Civil Engineer

Overview

Hatch is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer in Long Beach, CA. The Lead Civil Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The role includes the exciting opportunity to grow the team of civil engineering personnel.

In general, the Lead Civil Engineer is responsible for preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports for both front end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multi-disciplinary projects. In the role of Lead Civil Engineer, you will provide support to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for supervising a team of civil and hydrotechnical engineers as well as designers and draftspersons.

The role will also entail management roles that require obtaining approvals from local government councils/authorities, engaging with Clients and Contractors, handling site queries.

The Lead Civil Engineer provides leadership and assists in the resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline. The Lead Civil Engineer participates in a wide range of projects that may cover earthworks, residential and commercial developments, utilities including pump stations, and drainage layouts for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.

• A recognized degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
• 8+ years' experience in relevant civil engineering design and management
• Experience working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in the use of Civil3D, Open Roads and Microstation
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Ability to function with minimal supervision
• Good safety awareness
