Job DescriptionThe Special Projects Division is looking for a Senior Civil Transportation Engineer in Long Beach, CA. The role focuses on complex roadway and transportation improvements on design-build and design-bid-build projects, integrating design, project management, and client service.
Key Responsibilities- Apply engineering expertise to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to design linear utilities, street improvements, and transportation infrastructure.
- Contribute to waterfront and industrial developments and assess risks and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and permitting throughout project lifecycle.
- Improve problem solving using traditional and modern engineering techniques.
- Manage project tasks, coordinate timelines, budgets, and resources; conduct site visits and inspections.
- Mentor team members and support professional growth.
- Build strong client relationships, provide clear communication, and serve as trusted advisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years civil design experience; PE in California or ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil3D;
Micro Station, InRoads, Open Roads desired. - Working knowledge of AASHTO, USDOT/FHWA, MUTCD, Caltrans Greenbook Standard Plans.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and the ability to prepare roadway/transportation design documents.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.
- Commitment to exceptional client service.
- Primarily office-based work with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs and field inspections involving walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
- Travel to project sites or client meetings as required.

Base salary $120,000–$160,000, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. Performance-based bonuses and detailed compensation information provided during interviews.
