Below is the role responsibility and qualification information for the Electrical Senior Project Manager position and the benefits that come with working at PCL.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the project safety program; influence safety culture as a mentor and model.
- Conduct job site tours, safety inspections, and lead by example to ensure policies, procedures, environmental programs and safety standards are followed.
- Review incidents, near misses, HSE reports, and statistics; effect changes to maintain safety and environmental standards.
- Liaise with clients to ensure projects are constructed to quality and safety standards and contract requirements.
- Participate in estimates, trade contractor negotiations, and proposals to secure new work.
- Oversee development and implementation of quality management plans and culture with stakeholder buy‐in.
- Offer value‑engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and schedule benefits while maintaining value‑added outcomes.
- Develop or oversee the Project Execution Plan (PEP) with the superintendent.
- Coordinate, monitor, and manage design deliverable schedules to facilitate permits, procurement, shop drawings, and construction commissioning.
- Review design documentation for compliance, cost optimization, and safety in design; seek resolution on issues such as scope creep or constructability.
- Monitor project performance status reports for schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety, environment, cost forecast, and quality control.
- Identify scope gaps, technical risks, and interdisciplinary coordination needs arising from design documents.
- Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Gold Seal certification (CDN).
- 15+ years of progressive construction experience, including multiple contract delivery types and leadership/mentoring roles.
- 12 months of estimating or related experience preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge and application of safety and environmental principles, procedures, and legislation.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction industry practices, materials, specifications, safety, and quality management for large, complex projects.
- Experience with diverse project types, delivery methods, sequencing, and timelines.
- Strong knowledge of project construction laws, building codes, and their application.
- Understanding of collective agreements, jurisdiction assignments for multi‑trade sites.
- Thorough understanding of insurance, bonding, and legal requirements.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Capacity to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing; identify staffing and labor issues.
The estimated salary range for this role is $170,000 – $210,000, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
