Position: Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Mid Level)

Job Overview

Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Mid Level) – The Boeing Company (BCA), Long Beach Engineering team. Supports Payloads Engineering in Long Beach, CA. Work onsite at Boeing Southern California Design Center.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and First Article Inspection (FAI) major milestone meetings.
  • Develop engineering releases to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout product lifecycle.
  • Review and approve supplier technical data and documents for compliance with FAA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Verify supplier designs meet customer and Boeing specifications.
  • Coordinate with certification specialists to ensure proper certification and test documentation prior to aircraft delivery.
  • Lead process improvement activities to streamline seat installation, certification and rework processes.
  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and team with other internal and external engineering teams, suppliers and supplier management.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
  • Five or more years of related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Boeing engineering release requirements.
  • Knowledge of aircraft interiors and layouts.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
