The Boeing Company – Boeing Global Services (BGS) – is hiring for the C‑17 Avionics/Flight Controls Development Engineering team in Long Beach, California. The role supports subsystem and system‑level testing of autopilot, stability augmentation, primary flight controls, high‑lift controls, and fly‑by‑wire control systems for the C‑17 Globe master III aircraft.
- Lead a team in a collaborative environment in the design, analysis, test, and sustainment of the C‑17 Flight Control System.
- Travel domestically for lab/flight test and Air Force customer meetings as required.
- Provide technical oversight and participation in the following tasks:
- Ensure technical compliance of project statement of work.
- Develop Flight Control System integration plan and lead a team to perform the testing phase of a project.
- Create subsystem development and system‑level tests based on requirements.
- Conduct subsystem development and system‑level tests in lab simulation facilities.
- Perform flight test validation testing.
- Document test findings, collaborate with systems focal/supplier to determine root cause of anomalies, and communicate with supplier during the test program to mature a solution.
- 5+ years of experience with aircraft systems, including avionics, flight controls, hydraulics, electrical, and integrated vehicle management systems.
- 1+ year of experience leading a team or project.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a non‑US equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement.
- 10+ years of experience with aircraft vehicle systems.
- Military or commercial aircraft program experience.
- Experience working within a matrixed reporting organization.
- Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Position is contingent upon award and requires a U.S. Person for export control compliance.
- Non‑safety sensitive position; no security clearance required.

- Relocation may be offered based on candidate eligibility.
- Level4: $146,200 – $197,800
- Level5: $176,800 – $239,200
