Kaleidoscope Supply Services supports the staffing of this position on behalf of a client company. If selected, you will be employed directly by the client—not Kaleidoscope, the VA, or the federal government.
This role supports a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) federal contract. You will work alongside VA teams to help deliver services that support veterans and the VA’s mission.
About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Architect to join our team in Long Beach. In this pivotal role, you will work directly with the Engineering Service/Section Chief to conduct comprehensive site investigations and maintain critical campus building and utility documentation. Your expertise will ensure that our facility records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with all federal and industry safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Create comprehensive architectural and engineering documentation using AutoCAD and Revit, including detailed scaled drawings, reflected ceiling plans, and elevations.
- Maintain the Drawing Room and digital archives, ensuring that all architectural and engineering records are organized and accessible.
- Ensure all designs and updates strictly follow ABAAS, VA Barrier Free Design Guide, TIL, ICC, OSHA, IFC, and Life Safety standards.
- Identify variances between existing site conditions and current documentation, providing professional recommendations and solutions for alignment.
- Perform thorough on-site investigations to capture existing buildings and utility data.
- Swiftly update drawings and documentation to reflect office moves or minor construction projects to ensure operational continuity.
- Review and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications across various engineering disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional architectural employment.
- At least 2 years of experience must include site investigations (healthcare environment experience is preferred).
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (minimum 2 years of professional experience in each) and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in both free-form sketching and precise scale drawing.
- Knowledge of healthcare design, fire/life safety, building codes, and barrier-free design criteria.
- NCARB, Project Management Professional (PMP), Evidence-Based Design (EDAC), or LEED accreditation is highly desirable.
- This position supports a federal nonpersonal services contract with the VA.
- The anticipated contract term includes one base year with up to two optional renewal years, subject to funding, performance, and government needs.
- As part of the federal approval process, the VA may review resumes and may request interviews.
- Final placement and start date are contingent upon VA approval.
- While Kaleidoscope Supply Services manages the staffing process, the employer of record will be the client company supporting the VA contract.
- Hourly pay: you are paid only for hours worked.
- No paid holidays (holiday pay is not reimbursed by the government for this role).
- No paid time off (PTO) is included.
- Overtime is not permitted unless pre-approved by both the client and the VA.
- This compensation structure is standard for federal nonpersonal services contract positions.
- This type of federal contract does not include government-funded benefits. In alignment with contract requirements and standard industry practices:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance are not included.
- Retirement plans are not included.
- No employer-sponsored benefits are offered for this position.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, drug and alcohol screening, and onboarding or training.
