Senior RF Phased Array Engineer – Lead product development and technical direction for Rocket Lab’s phased array, antenna, and RF system solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end product development including architecture design, prototyping, integration, test, and flight development.
- Model and simulate antenna and array performance for current programs and proposals.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams of RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, and structural engineers.
- Transition developments from new product introduction to production and support production automation.
- Interface with vendors and customers and develop test plans and procedures for active antennas.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including troubleshooting and anomaly resolution.
- Support project requirements and proposals, drive compliance assessments, and deliver technical documentation.
- Participate in engineering reviews such as PDRs, CDRs and TRRs.
- Maintain awareness of product development and production schedules to meet customer and program needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or an equivalent field.
- Five or more years of experience in RF communications and antenna design.
- Strong knowledge of RF link budgets, linearity, and interference effects.
- Proficiency in antenna and phased array modeling and simulation.
- Experience in delivering RF systems, including requirements assessment, prototyping, and production.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or an equivalent field.
- Eight or more years of experience in RF communications and antenna design.
- Deep experience in modeling, simulation, and impact of interference on RF systems.
- Proven track record of delivering space‑worthy RF systems through prototyping to production.
- Space‑grade system design experience.
- Experience in reliability, FMECA, thermal, and derating analyses.
- Leadership in complex engineering programs and associated documentation.
- Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
- Mentoring, incident management, conflict resolution, and strong communicator.
- Project management experience.
