Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are a small, fast-moving team building next-generation gas turbine engines to power the future of aerospace, defense, and energy. Backed by leading investors and led by proven founders, we're assembling a high-performance team to reinvent propulsion and power from the ground up. This is a rare chance to create genuinely new technology and to watch it go from a sketch on your screen to hardware coming off the line and into service.

We design it, analyze it, build it, and test it, often in the same week.

About the Role

As our turbo machinery design engineer, you turn concepts into manufacturable, flight-worthy hardware. You own the detailed design of rotating and static components — impellers, blisks, shafts, housings, and combustors — and you carry enough of your own structural analysis to know your parts will survive before they are ever cut.

Responsibilities
  • Own the detailed design of rotating parts (impellers, blisks, shafts, rotor stacks) and static structure (housings, casings, hot-section) from concept to release.
  • Produce manufacturing-ready drawing packages: GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerance stack-ups, and specifications the shop and suppliers can build from.
  • Run your own structural FEA — static, thermal-structural, modal, and fatigue / life — to size and de-risk parts before they are ever cut.
  • Design for manufacturability across precision machining, casting, and additive, working directly with the shop and suppliers.
  • See parts through build and test, folding what the test stand teaches back into the next revision.
  • Move fluidly across the design, build, and test loop as the program needs.
Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or a related discipline, with roughly 5-7+ years of serious component-design experience for aerospace or similarly demanding applications.
  • Expert with Solid Works (or comparable) for complex parts, assemblies, and drawing packages, with rigorous GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Able to run your own structural FEA in ANSYS (or comparable): static, thermal-structural, modal, and fatigue / life.
  • Strong mechanics-of-materials fundamentals — stress, fatigue, tolerancing, and material selection.
  • A real design-for-manufacturability instinct across machining, casting, and/or additive.
  • Genuinely hands‑on — comfortable on the shop floor and at the test stand.
  • Clear technical communication, and the instinct to back claims with data rather than assertion.
  • Fluent with modern AI tools and able to use them to move faster — while staying appropriately skeptical: you verify what they produce, understand where they break down, and never let them substitute for your own engineering judgment.

Bonus points for any of:

  • Rotating-machinery / turbo machinery component design — impellers, blisks, disks, shafts, rotor stacks.
  • High-speed, high-temperature, or high-cycle‑fatigue applications.
  • Rotor dynamics, structural dynamics, vibration, or lifing analysis.
  • High-temperature materials and processes — nickel superalloys, casting, brazing, additive, coatings.
  • Experience releasing hardware to production and working with a supply chain.
  • Scripting and automation (e.g., Python) for analysis or design.
