- Ensure a safe environment at all Airgas facilities
- Lead, direct, and inspire the Automation Specialists to achieve sales growth, EBITDA performance, and customer service excellence
- Manage the automation specialist team to execute the automation sales strategy efficiently and effectively
- Forecast and budget automation assets and staff for the fiscal year
- Collaborate with the Area Vice Presidents to build short- and long-term strategies for each area
- Develop a P&L (Sales & GP) to measure the growth of all automation technologies and related products
- Develop local vendor partnerships, conduct technical and product sales training, and support the sales process
- Manage the Airgas commercial offering for all laser gases
- Ensure training and development for the automation team aligns with market needs
- Interface and plan with the service team for all installations
- Other duties as assigned
- BS Degree in Business or a related field or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the welding industry, managing a sales force; proficiency in selling and servicing mechanized cutting systems, robotics, and other automated welding/cutting products (15 years preferred)
- Established track record as a producer; education may be superseded
- Valid driver's license
- Broad knowledge of robotics, cutting, and fabrication processes common to Airgas customers, including:
- Manual, semi-automated, and automated welding processes and mechanization
- Automation and robotic applications for welding and related processes
- Basic shop equipment for punching, forming, bending, or rolling of plate and structural steel components
- Automation equipment from various suppliers
- Self-motivated and results/action oriented
- Good business acumen across the markets that Airgas serves
- Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills for selling to owners and general managers of large companies
- Collaborative communication skills to manage, inspire, and influence others
- Team player with a positive attitude toward associates, customers, and the work environment
- Flexible and adaptable to changing customer schedules
- Proficient with computer applications, including but not limited to Google applications
