Technical Consultant – Power & New Energy

As part of Worley Consulting's Power & New Energy team, you will contribute to projects that advance grid modernization, renewable energy integration, transmission expansion, and emerging low-carbon technologies across North America. Purpose of the role

Worley Consulting is seeking an early career Electrical Engineer / Technical Consultant to support the delivery of power and energy transition projects across North America. This role focuses on the analysis, modeling, planning, and development of transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure while supporting renewable energy integration and grid modernization initiatives.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver technically sound, commercially practical, and customer-focused solutions for utilities, developers, and industrial clients. The position provides exposure to both conventional power systems and emerging energy technologies, offering valuable experience in project feasibility studies, interconnection assessments, power system analysis, and early-stage project development. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer looking to accelerate their technical growth while building consulting, project delivery, and customer engagement skills.

Long Beach, California; or Monrovia, California

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring regular in-office collaboration three days per week. Remote work is not available. Travel of up to 30% may be required to support project execution, customer engagement, site visits, and business development activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting technical and economic analyses for transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure projects.
  • Assisting with feasibility studies and business case evaluations for renewable energy and power infrastructure developments.
  • Performing power system modeling and engineering analyses using industry-standard software tools.
  • Supporting transmission interconnection studies and grid integration assessments for renewable and conventional power projects.
  • Assisting with the design and development of transmission, distribution, and substation layouts and associated engineering deliverables.
  • Reviewing engineering design packages to help ensure technical completeness, compliance, and alignment with applicable standards.
  • Analyzing electrical power systems for utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), and energy developers.
  • Preparing technical reports, engineering evaluations, presentations, and customer deliverables.
  • Participating in customer meetings and supporting the communication of technical findings to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with engineering, consulting, project management, environmental, permitting, and construction teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Supporting proposal development, project planning activities, and cost estimating efforts.
  • Contributing to business development through strong project delivery performance and customer-focused service.
  • Participating in technical forums, professional development activities, industry conferences, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Promoting a culture of safety, innovation, technical excellence, and sustainability.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering.
  • Approximately 1+ years of experience within the power, utilities, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure sectors.
  • Foundational understanding of power systems engineering, including transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies such as solar PV, onshore and offshore wind, battery energy storage systems, and microgrids.
