Hazardous Waste Technician
We are seeking a certified 40-hour HAZWOPER Technician whose primary responsibility will be waste consolidation and management in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is critical to ensuring safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities- Collect, segregate, and consolidate hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams according to regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and tracking of all waste containers.
- Follow OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company-specific safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records for waste profiles, manifests, and disposal logs.
- Assist with spill response and cleanup activities as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of storage areas to ensure compliance and safety.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and drum dollies safely.
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain readiness for emergency response.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for waste pickup and disposal.
- Report any discrepancies or safety concerns promptly.
- Current and valid 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and consolidation procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste.

Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is from 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Certifications required include a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. Medical requirements include a pulmonary function test and physical. Personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots are mandatory.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
