As the engineering and manufacturing services arm of Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, working in collaboration with Nikon SLM Solutions, we deliver integrated solutions that help customers qualify, manufacture, and scale mission-critical components for commercial and government applications across the United States.
The Technician III, EHS supports the EHS Manager in implementing, maintaining, and improving the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. This lead-level role manages day-to-day EHS operations and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Key focus areas include hazardous metal and chemical waste management, high-voltage electrical safety, crane and lift safety, and facility-wide risk reduction within a complex aerospace manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage hazardous metal and chemical waste programs, including labeling, storage, accumulation areas, manifesting, and coordination with vendors.
- Conduct required hazardous waste inspections and maintain compliant storage areas.
- Support environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, waste streams, and sustainability efforts.
- Assist with electrical safety programs involving 480V systems and a 4000A building service.
- Verify lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance and support energized work permitting.
- Perform routine inspections of high-voltage equipment zones to ensure compliance.
- Oversee safety requirements for cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial equipment.
- Track certifications, schedule inspections, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of production and mechanical areas for safe equipment operation.
- Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and aerospace industry standards.
- Prepare and assist with permit applications, regulatory inventories, and compliance submissions (e.g., CERS/EDV).
- Assist in preparing and submitting required biannual reports and other regulatory documents.
- Participate in or lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
- Support emergency response readiness including spill response, evacuation drills, first aid, and high-voltage incident procedures.
- Respond to workplace medical incidents within the scope of training (first aid, CPR, AED).
- Maintain facility AEDs, first aid kits, and emergency medical supplies.
- Support injury response, incident documentation, and coordination with supervisors and HR.
- Assist in post-incident follow-up, including escorting injured employees to medical evaluations when required by company policy.
- Participate in emergency drills involving medical response scenarios.
- Monitor workplace conditions that may pose health risks (chemical exposure, heat stress, noise levels) and communicate necessary controls.
- Maintain accurate EHS records, permits, SDS files, inspection logs, and compliance reports.
- Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for daily EHS issues, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
- Recommend and implement practical improvements that enhance safety, compliance, and efficiency.
