Job Description and DutiesDo you enjoy working in a fast‑paced, office‑centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Student Assistant with experience in verifying and summarizing data using Microsoft Office software.
Under general direction from the Actuary Senior and assigned lead actuaries, perform actuarial duties within assigned time frames related to life, health, and property & casualty insurance companies’ insurance forms, rates and reserves.
Duties include:
- Verifying and summarizing actuarial correspondence and data obtained from authorized insurers.
- Creating and using actuarial software and spreadsheets.
- Applying computer skills and communication skills in a team‑based process.
- Reading and applying California laws and regulations applicable to actuarial calculation.
This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies in the location.
Students are permitted to work up to a maximum of 1,500 hours within a 12‑month period from their initial appointment. The employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
Position requires current enrollment in college and proof of enrollment must be submitted when applying.
