Financial Analyst II

Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.

Rocket Lab’s Finance team is responsible for all financial transactions for the company, operating as a well-oiled machine to maximize the value of our work. Our Finance team are made up of planners, analysts and accountants, and manage our policies, compliance, and reporting. They’re the ones who keep our financial operations in check, always thinking ahead and taking care to meet all of our financial, business, and government obligations.

They’re attentive, diligent, and meticulous, and are mission-critical to Rocket Lab.

Based onsite at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the financial reporting of the enterprise, strategic projects, revenue and margin analysis, and other ad-hoc financial reporting. This position requires the ability to critically think, analyze large data sets and effectively communicate issues and opportunities in the business. A self-starter that excels in data analytics and problem solving will thrive in this role.

The financial analyst will report to the FP&A manager and work closely with CFO, Corporate Controller, and a wide range of team members throughout the organization.

• Support budgeting and strategic planning activities.
• Identify and assist in developing global processes that are scalable, streamlined and effective in meeting the evolving needs of a dynamic business.
• Provide timely and accurate financial information and recommendations to decision makers to make prudent business decisions.
• Collect, analyze and manage data and create meaningful reports to drive business improvement and cost reductions.
• Support development and maintenance of weekly and monthly financial reporting, planning, and KPI’s.
• Evaluate current project spend and support ad-hoc reporting on spend rates.
• Support sales and marketing on customer proposals, pricing and opportunity forecasting.
• Reporting and analysis of monthly spend variances at cost center level liaising with cost center owners.
• Other duties or special projects as requested.

• 2+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or similar, or equivalent years of work experience (6+ years working).
• Familiarity with financial analysis in a corporate environment.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment within the aerospace and defense industry.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be physically able to commute to buildings
• Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
