Brief Description
We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Director of Finance Operations to strengthen and streamline the operational side of our Finance function. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role will ensure that our cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit programs run efficiently and consistently, while supporting the broader Finance strategy set by leadership.
Brief Description
We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Director of Finance Operations to strengthen and streamline the operational side of our Finance function. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role will ensure that our cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit programs run efficiently and consistently, while supporting the broader Finance strategy set by leadership.
The Director of Finance Operations will directly oversee capital project evaluation, capital expenditure planning, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and cost accounting for our cultivation and manufacturing operations. They’ll build scalable controls and practices that allow our Finance team to operate with clarity and confidence.
This is a builder role ideal for someone who thrives on designing processes, tightening financial controls, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across our business — including our Camarillo Facility, the largest cannabis cultivation facilities in the world.

What You’ll Do
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Develop and implement process documentation across all Operational Finance functions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, partnering with Legal on audit and regulatory requirements across our cultivation and manufacturing operations.
- Maintain audit readiness and proactively address compliance risks in partnership with VP of Finance and Legal.
- Oversee capital project budgets and expenditure tracking, ensuring accuracy and cost control throughout each project lifecycle.
- Support the rollout of consistent budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting practices, aligned with leadership expectations.
- Implement cost accounting and controls that inform improvements to operational efficiency across cultivation and manufacturing.
- Manage cost accounting records for inventory and production, ensuring accuracy and data integrity across cultivation and manufacturing.
- Partner with Accounting and Operations to ensure clean, consistent cost data and minimize errors.
- Provide budget and forecast reporting to leadership, supporting the VP of Finance in data-driven decision-making.
- Serve as the operational liaison between Corporate Finance, Operational Accounting, Cultivation, and Manufacturing.
- Collaborate with the VP of Finance on budget alignment and cost control initiatives across capital projects.
- Provide day-to-day operational guidance to Finance Managers, Analysts, and Business Partners.
- Ensure operational consistency so the Finance team and leadership can focus on strategic priorities.
- Coach Finance staff on compliance, process discipline, and documentation standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- CPA or similar certification a plus.
- 10+ years of Finance experience, with at least 5 years leading finance operations/compliance.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, capital project budgeting, and audit requirements.
- Proven experience building, scaling processes, and managing cost accounting controls.
- Excellent project management, data reporting, and analytical skills.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, with the ability to build trust across teams.
- Strong business acumen, problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and internal controls best practices.
