The Life Enrichment Assistant for Glen Park Senior Living is under the general supervision of the Activity Director. in an assisted living facility is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for senior residents through the planning and execution of engaging social, physical, and mental activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Activity Facilitation:Lead daily group programs such as fitness classes, arts and crafts, games (e.g., bingo or brain games), and musical activities.
- Planning & Scheduling:Assist the Activities Director in developing monthly activity calendars and newsletters to keep residents and families informed.
- Event Coordination:Organize and decorate for special community events, seasonal holiday celebrations, and family night gatherings.
- Resident Engagement:Encourage resident participation by visiting rooms individually, learning their "Life Stories" and personal interests, and providing one-on-one companionship.
- Transportation:Drive community vans or buses to transport residents to off-site appointments, shopping trips, and community outings.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate records of resident attendance and participation in activities to track engagement levels and well-being.
- Care Support:Assist residents with mobility (e.g., using wheelchairs) and occasionally help during meals with hydration or feeding as needed.
- Education:AHigh School Diploma or GEDis typically the minimum requirement.
- Compliance: Must pass Criminal background check, TB Test and Physical
- Experience:1–2 years of experience working with seniors, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Certifications:Current First Aid and CPR certification is often required; some states may require a specific Activity Assistant certification.
- Driving:A valid California driver’s license with a clean record is essential for roles involving resident transportation.
- Physical Demands:Ability to stand for long periods and lift or move equipment (and sometimes residents) weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Interpersonal:Exceptional patience, empathy, and a positive attitude for working with residents who may have cognitive or physical limitations.
- Creativity:Ability to design innovative programs that cater to diverse resident interests.
- Communication:Strong verbal and written skills to interact with residents, their families, and other staff departments.
Pay: $19-21/hour
