We are seeking an experienced, service-focused, and highly organized Event Captain to join our team. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who enjoys leading teams, creating exceptional guest experiences, and ensuring events run seamlessly from start to finish.
Position SummaryThe Event Captain serves as the on-site leader for service operations, ensuring events are executed according to TGIS standards and client expectations. This position acts as the primary liaison between the Event Manager, service team, culinary team, venue staff, and vendors to deliver a seamless and memorable guest experience. The ideal candidate is a confident leader, excellent communicator, and hospitality professional who thrives in fast-paced event environments.
WhatYou'll Do Event Leadership
- Lead and supervise service staff during event setup, service, and breakdown.
- Conduct pre-event team meetings to review timelines, assignments, service expectations, and event details.
- Ensure all team members maintain professional appearance, behavior, and service standards.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to team members throughout the event.
- Lead by example through professionalism, positivity, and exceptional hospitality.
- Deliver exceptional service while creating a welcoming and memorable experience for guests.
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns quickly and professionally.
- Ensure service flows smoothly throughout all phases of the event.
- Maintain awareness of guest satisfaction and overall event atmosphere.
- Support VIP service and special client requests as needed.
- Oversee event setup and ensure all service areas meet TGIS presentation standards.
- Coordinate service timing with culinary staff, bartenders, and event leadership.
- Monitor event timelines and assist with adjustments to ensure successful execution.
- Ensure stations, buffets, bars, and dining areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Assist with event breakdown and proper return of equipment and supplies.
- Work closely with Event Managers, Off-Premise Chefs, Bartenders, and venue staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Communicate event updates and operational needs clearly and effectively.
- Support training and development of service staff.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and hospitality excellence.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and venue guidelines.
- Ensure responsible food and beverage service practices.
- Maintain clean and organized work spaces throughout the event.
- Support compliance with health and sanitation standards.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in catering, hospitality, events, restaurants, hotels, or banquet service.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation to event locations.
- Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to safely drive company vans, cargo vans, and light-duty box trucks to and from event locations.
- Ability to load, transport, and unload event equipment, supplies, and rentals as needed.
- Catering or wedding industry experience.
- Luxury hospitality or fine dining experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Experience managing large service teams and high-volume events.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work long event shifts as needed.

Job Type: Part-Time / On-Call Event Staff
Pay: $24 - $28 per hour
Schedule: Flexible; evenings, weekends, and holidays required
