Vast is looking for a Senior Coordinator,
People Business Partner
, reporting to the Senior Manager, People Business Partners, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

on-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
- Provide day-to-day proactive, high-quality operational support to People Business Partners (PBPs) and the Employee Relations Manager (ER Manager), ensuring seamless daily HR operations and contributing to strategic people initiatives.
- Act as a primary point of contact for routine employee inquiries, exercising sound judgment to resolve standard issues and escalating complex or sensitive matters to PBPs or the Employee Relations Manager as appropriate.
- Own employee lifecycle workflow including offboarding logistics, internal transfers, and job changes, while identifying and implementing opportunities for workflow and process improvement
- Assist the Employee Relations Manager with employee relations intake, case tracking, audit-ready documentation, and follow-up coordination to ensure timely and compliant resolution.
- Maintain confidential records related to employee relations matters, exercising sound judgment and ensuring sensitive information is handled appropriately
- Draft and prepare clear, consistent employee-facing communications and templates for PBPs and the ER Manager, including performance documentation, policy reminders, and corrective action materials.
- Lead quarterly census audits and contribute to compliance activities, including wage & hour reviews and other periodic regulatory requirements
- Assist with HR reporting and analytics for People initiatives, helping identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve decision-making
- Track project plans, timelines, dependencies and deliverables; coordinate with stakeholders company wide
- Support and at times lead HR projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, employee experience, and process scalability (e.g., policy rollouts, engagement programs, systems enhancements)
- Support training and program implementation (e.g., manager 101 training, compliance training, performance management cycles)
- Maintain and continuously improve the library of SOPs, templates, workflows, etc.
- Create and maintain templates and workflows that increase consistency, clarity, and speed across HR processes
- Own the ongoing maintenance and optimization of the People team’s Confluence page, ensuring information is accessible, accurate, and updated regularly
- Serve as the primary coordinator for company-wide contractor management, including maintaining accurate contractor records, partnering with PBPs to assess role necessity, managing onboarding and offboarding, and collaborating with Supply Chain, People Ops, IT, and other teams to ensure seamless execution
- 3 + years of progressive HR experience (Generalist, HR Coordinator, HR Operations, or similar)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
