Vice President, Human Resources – Hotels

Ensemble Hospitality is seeking an experienced, strategic Vice President of Human Resources to lead all Human Resources functions for the hotel division across our managed portfolio. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for shaping people strategy, strengthening organizational culture, and ensuring operational excellence and compliance in a dynamic, multi-property hospitality environment.

The VP, Human Resources will serve as a trusted advisor to regional and property leadership, balancing strategic vision with hands‑on field presence to support our hotels and teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all Human Resources functions across the managed hotel properties
  • Partner closely with Regional Leaders, General Managers, and Corporate Leadership to align people strategies with business objectives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional and property-level Human Resources leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality HR support
  • Oversee recruitment, retention, and workforce planning strategies in a highly competitive hospitality labor market
  • Oversee payroll processes and systems ensuring compliance with all wage and hour requirements
  • Guide employee relations practices, including coaching leaders through complex colleague issues, investigations, and performance management
  • Direct the administration of compensation strategies, benefits, recognition, and engagement programs to attract and retain top talent
  • Drive training and development initiatives to strengthen leadership capability and build bench strength
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies, proactively mitigating risk
  • Champion colleague engagement, inclusion, culture‑building initiatives, and change management efforts
  • Serve as a visible, trusted leader with regular presence in the field and strong connection to property‑level operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of Human Resources experience, including senior‑level leadership in a multi‑unit environment
  • Hospitality or hotel industry experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic advisor, influencing executive and operational leaders through sound judgment and business insight
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high‑performing Human Resources teams in fast‑paced, service‑driven environments
  • Strong balance of strategic leadership and operational connection
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills at all organizational levels
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Exercises excellent judgment, discretion, and professionalism, always maintaining confidentiality
  • Results‑oriented, people‑first leader who thrives in high‑pressure environments
  • Labor Relations experience, managing Collective Bargaining processes and relationships with union representatives
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification preferred
  • This role is based in Long Beach, CA and supports hotels in multiple states
  • Regular travel is required
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check in compliance with applicable laws
