Position Title: Payroll & Compliance Specialist
Location: Long Beach, CA
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000 / Annually
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Payroll & Compliance Specialist
We are partnering with a dynamic, multi-entity organization seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Compliance Specialist to support complex payroll operations across multiple companies. This role blends hands-on payroll processing, system configuration, and compliance oversight to ensure payroll is accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
This individual will collaborate closely with payroll leadership, HR, and operations to maintain payroll integrity, support reporting requirements, and ensure alignment with company policies and regulatory standards. Experience supporting hourly or union environments is a plus.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll for assigned entities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain payroll system setup including accruals, deductions, tax jurisdictions, and employee data
- Validate timekeeping data and payroll inputs prior to processing
- Support reporting, reconciliations, and internal payroll audits
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Coordinate payroll data submissions to external systems as required
- Manage time-off workflows and maintain organized payroll documentation
- Partner cross-functionally to promote consistent payroll practices and improve efficiencies
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers
- 3–5+ years of payroll administration experience, ideally within multi-entity or multi-state environments
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax reporting, and system configuration
- Experience with payroll/HRIS platforms such as ADP, Paylocity, Workday, SAP, or similar
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and discretion handling confidential information
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
