Long-term contract-to-hire | Hybrid: 4 days remote, 1 day onsite (Long Beach, CA)
We’re hiring a Data Architect to define and govern enterprise data architecture as part of a long-term platform modernisation program. This is a long-term contract-to-hire role with clear scope, influence, and a path to permanent employment.
This role reports into senior technology leadership and is responsible for shaping how data is structured, integrated, governed, and evolved across the organisation. You’ll work across both modern cloud-based platforms and existing enterprise systems, guiding teams through practical, implementable architecture decisions.
What you’ll be doing- Define and maintain enterprise data architecture, standards, and reference models
- Shape architecture across data warehouses, data lakes, and real-time data integration
- Set standards for data modelling, integration patterns, governance, security, and data quality
- Guide Python and SQL-based data patterns used by engineering teams
- Establish Data Ops and CI/CD standards for data platforms and pipelines
- Partner closely with data engineers, BI teams, product owners, and IT leadership
- Advise senior stakeholders on data strategy, technology direction, and platform investment
- Support the integration and modernisation of existing enterprise systems, including DB2, within a cloud-oriented architecture
- Balance long‑term architectural vision with pragmatic delivery
- Cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred)
- Data warehouses and data lake architectures
- Batch and real-time data integration
- Python and SQL-based data patterns
- CI/CD and Data Ops practices
- Extensive experience in data architecture within enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms and cloud architectures
- Deep knowledge of data modelling, governance, and integration patterns
- Ability to work comfortably across both legacy and modern systems
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A pragmatic architect who focuses on solutions that get built and adopted
