Overview
Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more to open access space. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable ambitious space missions across scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate initiatives, national security, and technology demonstrations.
Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit. Our Space Systems business designs and builds satellites, payloads, and components, including spacecraft selected to support NASA missions and elements used on the James Webb Space Telescope.
RoleMARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER – SPACE SYSTEMS
Based onsite at our global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, this role translates complex spacecraft technology into simple, compelling verbal and visual language for a wide and evolving audience. You’ll own product messaging and positioning for Rocket Lab’s space systems business and lead cross-functional collaboration to help the world understand that Rocket Lab is more than a launch company.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO- Develop targeted messaging about Rocket Lab’s space systems products and services for key audiences: investors, customers, government stakeholders, regulators, and internal teams.
- Create materials for business development: one-pagers, pitch decks, case studies, website and social content, brochures, and presentations.
- Write stories about our missions, technology, and vision for platforms including blog posts, press releases, social media, scripts, and speeches.
- Collaborate with technical and business development teams to ensure accuracy, relevance, and message alignment for maximum impact.
- Lead planning and implementation for new programs and product launches.
- Identify opportunities to feature Rocket Lab in podcasts, newsletters, influencers, You Tubers, and other media channels.
- Maintain an understanding of the market and competitors to craft timely and differentiated messaging.
- Manage events including key conferences and customer experience events.
- Work with designers, photographers, and videographers to create engaging visual content.
- This role currently has no direct reports but may lead and mentor future team members as the organization grows.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in product marketing or related roles.
- Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, BD, legal, Gov Ops).
- Excellent writing and attention to detail.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to work onsite full time in Long Beach, CA with domestic and international travel as needed. Relocation packages available.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or tech industries.
- Security clearance.
- Familiarity with ITAR, EAR and IP protection.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate a computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
Base salary is determined on a case-by-case basis. This may include job-related knowledge, education, and experience.
Base pay range (CA): $130,000 — $170,000 USD
