The Long Beach City Attorney’s Office seeks to employ a Legal Systems Support Specialist to perform specialized technical work. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has a deep understanding of legal workflows and technology, and can work professionally and independently to support and drive technology innovation.
SpecialNote:
This is an "at-will" position. The appointed candidate will serve at the discretion of the City Attorney, and can be terminated at any time. In such an event, the candidate has no right to any appeal or grievance procedure under any rule or regulation of the City of Long Beach.
Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for application related issues, while ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution of problem;
- Manage all desktop hardware and software, including application packages and updates. This to also include installs and configuration of desktop images;
- Provide data analysis and management reports using various report generators associated with database systems, and export target data to Excel, Access, and Word tables for management use or CMS quarterly report submission;
- Set-up new users with phones, printers, scanners, and other hardware and applications;
- Conduct analysis and research on informational needs and technology trends, and apprise management and staff, either verbally or via documentation;
- Administer database systems; create and maintain database forms and templates, test and upgrade, as needed;
- Coordinate automation projects and specifications;
- Ensure internet directory and intranet site is maintained with most up-to-date information;
- Act as the liaison for the City Attorney Office with other City departments, including Technology Innovation, and with outside vendors;
- Keep and maintain records of complex issues, and report to proper sources when appropriate;
- Provide end-user training or coordinate needed trainings on various office applications;
- Provide first level support for printers, copiers, and scanners;
- Work within the City’s hazardous waste/recycling requirements to dispose old equipment, batteries, and toner; and
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in information systems or a closely related field AND three years’ experience in end-user support and training, business software applications, computer operating systems, and network management.
- Experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to the extent that the experience has prepared the individual to perform the duties of the classification.
- Relevant substantive computer knowledge and experience;
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Windows 11;
- Highly motivated, with the ability to work under pressure, analyze problems, propose solutions and deal with changing priorities;
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel;
- Excellent attendance, professional appearance and demeanor;
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in an environment of representing a large municipal department run as an enterprise focused on delivering results and managing expenses;
- Ability to analyze and define problems and conceptualize new computer solutions;
- Client oriented, service driven and self-motivated;
- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner;
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction, exercising strong judgment in carrying out responsibilities; and
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments with maximum flexibility in a multi-tasking environment.
- Experience with using and supporting a Legal Case Management system.
- Experience using Active Directory.
- Experience using SAP Crystal Report.
- Experience using SQL Server Management Studio.
- Understanding of SQL queries.
