We are partnering with a reputable logistics organization headquartered in Long Beach, CA.
Objective: Lead the design, operation, and evolution of a modern data platform, with a focus on Lakehouse architecture, analytics enablement, and scalable cloud-based data solutions. We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help drive our transition to a modern, cloud-based data ecosystem. This role primarily focuses on data platform engineering with Azure, while maintaining essential SQL Server operations and enabling data extraction tools.
This position will play a key role in building scalable data solutions, supporting analytics, and advancing our adoption of Lakehouse architecture.
Key Responsibilities Data Platform Engineering (Primary Focus)- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and processing workflows
- Contribute to the development and operation of the data Lakehouse architecture
- Support ingestion, transformation, and organization of large-scale datasets
- Apply data warehousing concepts to structure high-quality analytical datasets
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of data platform workloads
- Develop, enhance, and maintain dashboards, data models, and applications
- Ensure high-performance, reliable data delivery to business users
- Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into data-driven insights
- Optimize underlying data structures for efficient BI consumption
- Support and execute data platform modernization initiatives in Azure
- Help migrate and integrate on-prem SQL workloads into a cloud-based architecture
- Align data solutions with cloud‑native and scalable design principles
- Support SQL Server environments (on‑prem and Azure) as needed
- Perform backups, restore, and migration activities (SQL Server)
- Assist with performance tuning and database reliability. Ensure proper data governance and recovery strategies
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling— required
- Experience with SQL Server (queries, performance tuning, backup/restore)— required
- Experience working with Azure data platforms
- Experience implementing or supporting Lakehouse architectures
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration frameworks
- Familiarity with Azure data services (ADF, Synapse, etc.)
- Familiarity with No SQL Databases (MongoDB, Cosmos DB, etc.)
