Job Summary

Under the direction of the Statistical Consultant, the incumbent provides support in the collection, organization, and preparation of data for statistical analysis and reporting. The incumbent assists with survey administration, data management, and the preparation of tables, charts, and reports. This position ensures the accuracy and consistency of data handling and contributes to the university's planning, assessment, and accountability processes by providing dependable technical and administrative assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing statistical and qualitative data support for faculty and graduate students including design, data preparation, analysis and web-based surveys.
  • Provide clerical and technical support in preparing statistical summaries, visualizations, and reports under the direction of the Statistical Consultant.
  • Assist in aggregating statistical web access information from Qualtrics, Campus Software, Canvas and other databases.
  • Assist and support the SPOT administration when needed.

Time Base: 1.0, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment: Temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Classification: Institutional Research Analyst I

Compensation: Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: $4,799 (Step #1) - $5,299 (Step #6) per month, commensurate with candidate’s education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,799 (Step #1) - $6,992 (Step #20) per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of research techniques. Knowledge of the methods of gathering and analyzing research data. Knowledge of statistical procedures and principles. Working knowledge of desktop word processing and spreadsheet software. Working knowledge of survey/evaluation software is required (Qualtrics is preferred). Working knowledge of qualitative analysis software is strongly recommended (Dedoose or NVivo is preferred).

Ability to gather, compile and analyze research data. Ability to perform basic statistical analyses using computer-based software, e.g., SAS or SPSS. Ability to train faculty and explain technical information in a simple manner. Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate a customer service orientation. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field.
  • Preferred:
    Two years of related experience.
  • Preferred:
    Statistical experience.
