Job Description And DutiesDo you enjoy working in a fast‑paced environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Bureau Chief, Insurance Compliance professional with experience in insurance claims servicing and leading during natural disasters.
Under general direction of the Consumer Services Division Chief, the Bureau Chief:
- Organizes and directs the activities of Bureau staff engaged in handling written complaints.
- Mediates complaints, educates consumers regarding issues involved in the complaint or inquiry.
- Identifies violations and enforces the California Insurance Code, the California Code of Regulations, Title 10, and related laws.
- Manages all operations of the Bureau, including staffing, training, planning, scheduling, evaluating, and organizing staff to ensure efficient and effective work to protect and serve California consumers.
- Reports and makes or participates in governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests, complying with the Conflict of Interest Code.
The position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The appointee must complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700), including an Assuming Office filing within 30 days of appointment, annual filings, and a Leaving Office filing within 30 days of physical separation. Non‑compliance may result in appointment voiding, financial penalties, or enforcement actions.
