Responsibilities

  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for the respective shift or area.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (

    Note:

    Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.)
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., including cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, as directed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Clean windows and screens as directed.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties where necessary.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Ensure maintenance supplies are replenished in work areas as necessary.
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information; report known or suspected violations promptly.
  • Inform residents when it is necessary to move their personal possessions.
Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Education and/or

    Experience:

    Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism; ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: (If applicable; include any required certifications or licenses.)
Physical Demands
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read or hear; frequent use of office equipment (copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator).
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

  • The work environment is typically low to moderate noise.
