Job Summary

Working independently, the Assistant Director of Facilities, Operations and Event Management provides leadership in the planning, coordination, and execution of NCAA Division I athletic contests, special events, campus activities, and external rentals while supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and readiness of Athletics facilities. The position serves as a primary liaison with campus departments, vendors, coaches, and external partners to ensure facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and event-ready condition while delivering exceptional game and event operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership for the planning, coordination, and execution of all NCAA Division I home contests, conference and NCAA championships, special events, and external rentals. Oversees event staffing, logistics, payroll, customer service, security coordination, facility setup and turnover, and operational execution while ensuring compliance with university, conference, and NCAA requirements.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day operational readiness and maintenance support of Athletics facilities by identifying maintenance needs, coordinating repairs, monitoring facility conditions, and working collaboratively with Facilities Management, contractors, and vendors to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and event ready. Assists with preventive maintenance planning, equipment maintenance, deferred maintenance tracking, and operational improvements.
  • Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluate event supervisors, student assistants, and casual workers while coordinating payroll, purchasing, contracts, scheduling, operational documentation, and administrative processes supporting Athletics events and facility operations.
  • Coordinates facility scheduling for Athletics programs, campus departments, and external users while serving as the primary operational liaison with coaches, vendors, campus partners, visiting teams, officials, and event clients. Develop operational schedules and resolves facility conflicts to maximize facility utilization.
  • Assists with operational budgets, procurement, contract administration, inventory management, and departmental projects while supporting facility improvement initiatives and recommending operational enhancements that improve efficiency, safety, and customer service.
