Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, the Associate Vice President of Beach Building Services provides strategic vision, executive leadership, and operational oversight for the planning, construction, maintenance, safety, and service delivery of the campus facilities and environment. The role leads a complex organization responsible for a significant operating budget, major capital programs, and a large workforce. The position advises senior leadership, represents the University with the CSU and state agencies, ensures compliance with applicable requirements, and advances safe, sustainable, fiscally responsible, and service-oriented facilities operations.

• In consultation with the Vice President for Administration and Finance, the Associate Vice President of BBS is responsible for the leadership in planning and ensuring the integrity and safety of the University’s facilities; establishing and directing the long-range strategic goals and objectives of the department; and ensuring that annual operational objectives are established and achieved in the following functional areas:
  Physical Planning, Design and Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and Facilities Management. The Associate Vice President represents the campus and has close interaction with individuals and groups at the Chancellor’s Office, State Department of Finance, Legislative Analyst’s Office, other State agencies, the City of Long Beach, and the community who are involved in the development, improvement or use of campus facilities.
  
  The individual is charged with overseeing an approximate $45 million operating budget (state and self-supporting), capital program ranging from $150 million to $500 million, and the management of approximately 300 employees.
• The Associate Vice President assures that maintenance and project spending relate to the University's financial, budget and planning process.
• The Associate Vice President assures the Service Response Program involves stakeholders throughout all Department planning and prioritization processes and that services and spending are balance across the diversity of institutional needs.
• The Associate Vice President assures that Campus Environmental Health and Safety Program is reviewed annually and being followed in all Department operations.
