Form 5500 Compliance Team Leader
In this role you will lead a team delivering Form 5500 compliance services for employee benefit plans, ensuring ERISA and IRS regulatory adherence. You will partner with internal service lines and clients, managing engagements from data collection to filing and reporting. The position combines people leadership with technical accuracy and proactive risk management in a dynamic, collaborative culture. You will help shape compliant, efficient benefit plan compliance strategies for varied client portfolios.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team in preparing, reviewing, and filing Form 5500s for diverse employee benefit plans
- Oversee data gathering and analysis to ensure accurate, compliant reporting under ERISA and IRS rules
- Deliver Form 5500-related services (including 8955-SSA, 720, 5330) to clients of varying scope
- Serve as primary contact for internal teams, clients, and auditors across service lines
- Manage risk and financial performance of engagements, including billing and budgeting
- Monitor evolving Form 5500 compliance requirements
- Uphold professional integrity and foster a respectful, collaborative work environment
Key requirements
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in employee benefit plan compliance, tax, or audit
- At least two years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Bachelor's degree; CPA, JD/LLM, or EA (or other approved credential) with timeline to obtain if not possessed at hire
- Strong understanding of ERISA and IRS regulations for employee benefit plans
- Proven leadership, project management, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with client and team relationship track record
