In this position...
As a Prototype Fabricator, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of components for prototype vehicles, working under the direction of senior fabricators. You will interpret engineering designs, apply your welding and metal forming skills, and contribute to the creation of high-quality prototypes. Your commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship will be essential to your success in this role.
Responsibilities- Read, interpret, and build to blueprints, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.
- Utilize handheld power and pneumatic tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, impacts, saws.
- Utilize shop equipment such as waterjet, CNC press brake, manual mill, lathe, bandsaw, belt and disc grinders, hydraulic shear, hydraulic press, table saw, miter saw, etc.
- Prep materials and fabricate simple to complex components and assemblies.
- Maintain a clean and productive workplace.
- Execute assigned fabrication tasks independently, meeting quality standards and deadlines, while adhering to established processes and seeking guidance from senior fabricators as needed.
- 3+ years MIG welding steel.
- 3+ years TIG welding aluminum and steel.
- Proficient layout and measurement skills utilizing calipers, tape measures, protractors, and fixturing tools.
- Comfortable handling and working with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, carbon fiber, fiberglass, foams, plastics, etc.
- High attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
- Ability to lift 50-70lbs.
- Stand for long periods of time, bend or twist body, kneel, stoop, or crouch.
- General knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Experience operating CNC equipment (e.g. waterjet, laser cutter, plasma table).
- Composite layup experience.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $79,. This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $93,.
