Vast is looking for a CNC Mill Machinist to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of human‑rated space stations, reporting to the Supervisor of Machining
. This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position located in Long Beach, California. The role involves manufacturing hardware from billet and additive‑manufactured materials using state‑of‑the‑art CNC machinery.

• Second Shift: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM PST

• Set up and operate multi‑axis CNC mills/lathes.
• Read and interpret setup sheets and tool lists.
• Check parts against the in‑process inspection plan, using optical comparator, caliper, and micrometers.
• Understand speeds and feeds.
• Communicate with machine shop leadership regarding quality issues.
• Perform first‑article inspections.
• Deburr all parts to ensure quality.
• Read and interpret aerospace drawings.
• Perform basic machine maintenance: clean chips, fill coolant, add fluids, clean machine.
• Work as a team and pass workload to succeeding shift.

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.

• 7+ years working with CNC machines with HAAS and FANUC controls.
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of GD&T and G‑code.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Deburring ability for quality parts.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• College or trade school certificate.
• Knowledge of additive manufactured parts.
• Multi‑axis mill, lathe, mill‑turn, and turn‑mill expertise.
• Ability to run up to 2 machines simultaneously.

• Machinist I: $23.00 – $32.00
• Machinist II: $29.00 – $41.00
• Machinist III: $35.00 – $49.00

Base salary will vary depending on experience, education, skills, and market demand.
