Welder III - B Shift
Based out of Rocket Lab Headquarters in Long Beach, California, the Welder III will weld and fabricate various fluid systems and sub‑assembly components for the Rutherford and Archimedes rocket engines.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO- Follow procedures to set up and operate our welding systems.
- Weld assemblies according to work orders, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
- Follow blueprints and meet product specifications within tight tolerances.
- 5+ years of experience in welding with a focus on advanced techniques.
- Experience in industries such as aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, or construction.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO, D17.1).
- Proficient in various welding techniques, including manual GTAW (TIG), OTW (Orbital Tube Welding), laser welding, and lathe welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Experience welding on .011–.250 material thicknesses.
- Experience with welding on materials such as Inconel, Monel, and stainless steel 300–400 series.
- Experience working with 3D‑printed parts and exotic alloys.
- Experience in metal fabrication and assembly.
- Experience with deburring and using pencil grinders.
- Ability to perform welding fit‑ups.
- Ability to support the grinding department.
- Certified welder.
- Certifications in specialized welding processes (TIG/Brazing).
- Certification for specific materials (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel).
- Willing to work Monday–Thursday (3:15 pm–1:45 am).
- Stand and walk for the entire shift (8+ hours) on various work surfaces.
- Climb ladders and work at elevated height, small spaces, awkward positions, and tight areas as needed.
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, and stooping.
- Use hands with precision to handle, control, and operate tools, instruments, and equipment.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 25 lb.
- Work in varied environments including production floors, equipment areas, and field locations with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and moving machinery.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts as operational needs require.
$30 — $40 per hour
