Assembly Integration and Test Technician III / Senior

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more – all with the goal of opening access to space.

Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit, while we work to develop Neutron, our upcoming medium‑lift reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment.

Overview

Based onsite at Rocket Lab's headquarters, the AIT Technician III/Senior is trained on Rocket Lab systems, supporting both R&D and manufacturing, and will traverse between environments with ease while maintaining high attention to detail.

What you’ll get to do
  • Perform development and production of space system components and satellites with minimal documentation and oversight.
  • Utilize detailed knowledge of electronic and mechanical fabrication methods to assemble or rework components including fluid systems, propulsion, reaction wheels, star trackers, deep-space radios, magnetorquers, flight computers and solar panels.
  • Perform tests on prototyping hardware with minimal direction from engineers.
  • Manufacture and integrate space‑standard harnesses.
  • Mechanically integrate space system components while adhering to all technical and environmental processes.
  • Perform system‑level fault‑finding activities on integrated satellites (e.g., continuity checks, functional checks, live voltage measurements, leak tests).
  • Author new or revised assembly work procedures and documentation, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Follow department policy for as‑built accuracy, non‑conformance, and quality process.
Qualifications

For AIT Technician III

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with flight hardware, satellites, or other high‑reliability systems.
  • HS diploma or GED.

For Senior AIT Technician

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with flight hardware, satellites, or other high‑reliability systems.
  • HS diploma or GED.

Nice to have

  • Experience with oscilloscope, power supplies, function generators, network analyzer, multimeters.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 or AS9100 requirements.
  • Experience with ESD safe zones and clean room environments.
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA‑A‑620C and/or AC 43.13.
  • Experience with calibrated measurement tools such as calipers or micrometers.
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to work A Shift (Mon‑Thu 5 am‑3:15 pm).
  • Stand and walk for entire shift (8+ hrs) on various work surfaces.
  • Climb ladders and work at elevated height, small spaces, awkward positions, and tight areas as needed.
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, and stooping.
  • Use hands with precision to handle, control, and operate tools, instruments, and equipment.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 25 lb.
  • Work in varied environments including production floors, equipment areas, and field locations with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and moving machinery.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts as operational needs require.
Compensation

Base pay range (CA only): $30–$45 USD per hour.
