Vast is a company developing next‑generation space stations to enable a continuous human presence in space. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Subassemblies to support the design and build of artificial‑gravity human‑rated space stations.

This full‑time exempt position reports to the Manager, Mechanical Subassemblies.

• Collaborate with design teams to provide input on the manufacturability of subassemblies.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and onboard equipment for subassemblies, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost.
• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent production.
• Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges through root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with quality assurance to establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and improving product quality.

• Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited institution.
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Working knowledge of machining, drilling, assembly, bonding, and related manufacturing processes.
• Mechanical aptitude and a desire to work hands‑on on a production floor.

• Experience designing tooling and hardware using CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
• Experience with flight hardware or safety‑critical systems.
• Experience transitioning complex products from R&D to production in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders to address manufacturing non‑conformances.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work.
• Demonstrated project management experience.

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support critical milestones.

$86,000 – $195,000 USD

Base salary varies by experience, education, and market demand.
