Master Scheduler
The Master Scheduler takes full ownership of developing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule in a plastic injection molding facility with a diverse customer portfolio. This role focuses on creating production plans that effectively manage labor, equipment, and materials to achieve plant efficiency targets. The position is highly analytical and requires close collaboration with internal teams, customers, buyers, and planners to balance supply, demand, capacity, and inventory while meeting customer service and delivery objectives.
Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) by working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment, delivery performance, and inventory results within the business unit.
- Analyze supply and demand trends, evaluate key factors, and develop and implement methods to improve service levels, inventory turns, and production efficiency.
- Develop standard procedures for scheduling and related strategies, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in planning and scheduling processes.
- Use statistical analysis methods to develop production plans that align capacity, materials, and labor with customer demand.
- Compare forecasts to historical demand and identify deviations to improve forecast accuracy and demand planning.
- Develop and maintain product groupings, individual product forecasts, demand plans, and production schedules to support a diverse customer portfolio.
- Implement production and forecasting strategies that meet customer demand while maintaining minimum effective inventory levels.
- Report backlog status and ensure alignment with the Master Production Schedule, proactively reviewing material supply and demand to determine appropriate push/pull actions to support manufacturing.
- Analyze, improve, and control MRP settings to support efficient material flow into and out of the facility.
- Schedule daily tool and die changes to align with the Master Production Schedule and broadcast daily production plans and priorities for teams across all shifts to meet customer demand.
- Create and release daily work orders to the production group, and verify work order completions as they are finished.
- Review and approve all incoming purchase orders within each product's specified lead times and minimum order quantities.
- Host daily reviews with Customer Service, Production, and Shipping to coordinate the status of open orders, ensuring On Time In Full (OTIF) shipment and expediting or rescheduling orders as needed.
- Integrate sales orders into the production schedule and coordinate the availability of materials, supplies, and resources to meet required delivery dates.
- Adjust and reflow orders as necessary to align with production outlook and changing customer demand.
- Serve as a key contact for customers, providing timely, detailed, and professional updates to customer inquiries regarding order and production status.
- Proactively communicate with customers on order status and any changes that may affect delivery or production plans.
- Analyze, map, and determine process requirements related to planning and scheduling, and support the development and implementation of standardized processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties or tasks as necessary to support overall company objectives in supply chain, planning, and production scheduling.
- Strong experience in supply chain planning, production scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or at least 6 years of experience in supply chain planning, coordination, and production scheduling.
- Hands-on experience with supply chain planning, production coordination, and scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, capacity management, distribution, and customer service.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with MRP/ERP systems.
- Experience with demand and capacity planning and scheduling.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including strong statistical and spreadsheet analytical skills.
