The Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach is a diverse and justice-centered Unitarian Universalist congregation of about 300 members and friends, with a vibrant children and youth program and opportunities for learning, service, fellowship, and pastoral care. We seek a friendly, warm, and technically skilled administrative professional to join our staff team immediately. We are in a time of administrative growth and this position is key to helping our congregation transition to a comprehensive new database system to help our members, friends, and visitors connect, give, and serve.
The Membership and Database coordinator also serves as the key contact for all Sunday morning hospitality and teams.
Activities:
Database Administration
- Lead the congregation’s transition and roll out of One-Church Membership Software
- Administrate the One-Church Database with members, friends, and visitors
- Collaborate with Religious Education, Minister, and Office staff to establish systems for check in, giving, events, calendar coordination, etc.
- Provide a welcoming presence on Sunday mornings
- Coordinate Sunday morning hospitality volunteer teams of Membership, Greeters, Ushers and any other assigned volunteer teams
- Staff the Membership Tables
- Coordinate the path to membership at UUCLB from first visit through first year of membership
- Lead regular workshops for welcoming newcomers and visitors
- Organize membership ceremonies, celebrations and events
- Coordinate nametags with volunteers
- Support the activities of the Membership Committee including attending monthly meetings
- Connect newcomers and members to church programs and volunteer opportunities
- Help church programs open their ministries to the presence and gifts of newcomers
- Regularly promote congregational activities and outreach through digital and print communication channels including social media
- Coordinate Stewardship campaign planning and implementation with volunteers and staff
- Facilitate conversations on stewardship and giving with newcomers and members
- Coordinate One Church and online giving opportunities with UUCLB staff and volunteers
- Technical ability to use, learn and teach database and software systems
- Enthusiasm for engaging and interacting with people.
- Ability to work collaboratively with UUCLB staff and the Membership Committee
- Basic social media skills
- Ability and comfort with speaking in public settings
- Proficiency in written and verbal communications in English.
- Ability to use email, word processing, spreadsheets, social media, Google Drive, Google Docs and Google sheets.
