Position SummaryHouse Supervisor is a management position with shift responsibility for directing and coordinating patient placement and nurse staffing throughout LBMC. The supervisor directs and when necessary triages admissions and transfers and makes the final decision regarding clinical unit for patient assignment. The position responds to all customer requests to include patients, families, physicians, and staff in a collaborative and direct way.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Patient flow within the medical center and room assignments for all admissions and transfers.
- When agreement is not reached regarding unit assignment, make the final decision based on ATD guidelines, physician orders, and own knowledge and experience.
- Direct nurse staffing for the hospital and obtain supplemental agency nursing staff.
- Act as the immediate supervisor for on‑duty Central Staffing Office staff and all Float Unit Staff.
- Respond to all hospital emergencies; initiate codes such as Code Triage; during triage act as Chief Nursing Officer and Incident Commander until relieved by assigned disaster officers.
- Respond to all customer requests including physicians, patients, families, support service staff, and managers.
- Act on behalf of nursing and hospital administrative staff in their absence and contact administrators on call as necessary.
- Collaborate with medical‑center directors to implement or enforce medical‑center values, policies and procedures.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate medical care by triaging and assigning to the correct level of care/unit.
- Implement emergency policies when there are no beds or no nurses and the Emergency Department is saturated or closed to trauma.
- Under the direction of the Director, assume added responsibilities such as, but not limited to:
- Staff coaching and counseling
- Participation in CAT process and quality improvement activities
- 5 years of active nursing practice in acute care
- 2 years of nursing management preferred
- Prior nursing leadership required
- Current California RN license required
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing required; if a candidate has an MSN, BSN is not required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification required
