Overview

RN, Clinical Supervisor - Emergency Services — Long Beach, CA. Status:
Full Time. Shift: Nights (12 hours). Pay Range: $66.32/hr - $99.47/hr sign-On: $20,000 signing bonus available to external hires new to Memorial Care employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Supervises and directs patient care within one department/unit during the shift.
  • Fosters an environment of patient- and family-centered care with emphasis on cultural diversity and individual patient needs.
  • Models an interdisciplinary approach and collaborates with physician partners to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Monitors personnel in patient care activities to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality outcomes.
  • Promotes the advancement of the nursing profession.
  • Performs rounding to assess care quality, introduce self to patients and families, and solicit feedback on nursing services.
  • Assesses staffing requirements and plans for the next shift.
  • Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues; communicates with leadership as needed to facilitate resolution.
  • Ensures shift compliance with quality, regulatory requirements, improvement initiatives, engagement initiatives, and productivity expectations.
  • Reviews and acts on schedule adjustments and time-off requests.
  • Manages staffing based on patient acuity and available resources and skills.
  • Arranges staff coverage for meals and breaks.
  • Supports Memorial Care initiatives and fosters employee engagement.
  • Creates a positive, healthy work environment through clinical and administrative leadership.
  • Participates in patient care as needed and provides input on performance evaluations of unit staff.
  • Continuously assesses department operations and patient care processes for improvement opportunities, and participates in quality activities.
  • Promotes organizational excellence and growth.
  • Ability to follow and support company policies, procedures, standard work, and directives; maintain positive and constructive interactions; prioritize and multitask.

Qualifications

Qualifications/

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a related clinical area.
  • Supervisor or nursing leadership experience preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required for external hospital candidates unless waived by Nursing Executive Council (NEC) review (includes transfers between Memorial Care hospitals).
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
  • Current clinical certifications as required by the department.
