Sterilization Processing Departments (SPDs) are one of the most important and yet most overlooked areas of a hospital or surgery center. This is a critical and growing problem as staffing shortages, poorly maintained facilities, and failure to adhere to the standards required to ensure patient and staff safety are increasing costs and potentially putting lives n though sterilization is central to providing surgeries, it is often an afterthought for most facilities.

The people who work in the SPD know it, and the deteriorating morale of the SPD workforce is adding to the decrease in sterilization competency.

We’re looking for a Sterile Processing Production Technician who thrives in a fast‑paced, detail-driven environment where quality and communication are key.

This role works side‑by‑side with the Sterile Processing Production Coordinator to manage the flow of instrumentation through sterilization and production. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and organization throughout every step of the process – from tray receipt to sterilization to delivery.

You’ll succeed in this role if you bring strong sterile processing experience, deep familiarity with loaner and consignment tray management, and an eye for detail. You’re hands‑on, organized, and take pride in doing things right the first time.

• Receive and inspect incoming loaner and consignment trays to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in verifying tray contents before and after sterilization according to standards and documentation.
• Partner with the Production Coordinator and SPD leadership to track trays throughout the sterilization and return cycle.
• Communicate promptly with vendors and teammates to ensure all trays are processed on schedule.

• Support the daily production flow, helping prioritize workloads and meet operational deadlines.
• Identify and elevate issues or discrepancies related to tray contents, timing, or documentation.
• Maintain organized work spaces and support the overall efficiency of the SPD.

• Communicate effectively with the Production Coordinator, SPD leadership, and team members to align on priorities and progress.
• Assist with vendor coordination, delivery confirmations, and documentation as needed.
• Represent Instrumentum’s standards of professionalism, reliability, and excellence in every interaction.

• Accurately record data in tracking systems, ensuring traceability for all tray movements and sterilization records.
• Support quality assurance initiatives by maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Help identify opportunities for process improvement in accuracy, turnaround time, or communication.

• Consistent, accurate handling of loaner and consignment trays from receipt through sterilization and return.
