A healthcare organization in Long Beach, California is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in wound care to join its clinical team. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a knowledgeable nursing professional with strong wound management experience and a commitment to providing safe, high-quality patient care.
The selected candidate will provide specialized wound assessments and treatments while working closely with patients, families, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Position OverviewThe Wound Care RN will assess patients with skin integrity concerns and complex wounds, develop appropriate care strategies, provide treatment, and monitor healing progress. The role also serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff regarding wound prevention and management.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments of wounds and skin integrity
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans
- Provide appropriate wound treatments based on clinical assessment and established protocols
- Monitor wound healing and modify care recommendations as needed
- Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately
- Identify potential complications and communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families regarding wound prevention, treatment, and ongoing care
- Provide guidance and clinical support to nursing staff regarding wound management
- Promote effective pressure injury prevention and skin care practices
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support positive patient outcomes
- Maintain compliance with applicable nursing standards, policies, and regulations
- Associate degree or higher in Nursing
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Extensive professional experience in wound care
- Wound care certification such as CWCN, CWOCN, or equivalent
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Additional wound care education or specialized training
- Experience working with complex or chronic wounds
- Experience providing clinical education or guidance to nursing staff
- Strong knowledge of pressure injury prevention and skin integrity management
