Quality Inspector - Mechanical - Level 2; 2nd Shift in Long

We’re hiring for a Quality Mechanical Inspector Level 2 position in Long Beach, CA
. This is a Part-Time or Full-time opportunity, working the 2nd shift

This is a 6‑month contract; we are urgently hiring! Must complete the GD&T Test:  Minimum required score is 70% or higher.

• Hand tool set ups to get through receiving inspection
• Support the Receiving department to reduce a backlog of machined rocket parts and associated documentation
• Perform detailed inspections—visual, dimensional, and physical—on components, assemblies, and raw materials throughout various production phases (including in‑process, final, and first article) to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
• Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gauges, and profilometers to validate part conformity
• Conduct surface plate inspections and statistical lot sampling based on quality requirements
• Apply sharp visual inspection skills to identify workmanship issues and product defects, including damage such as burrs, scratches, loose fasteners, dings, and inadequate edge distances
• Identify and categorize nonconformities and confirm that corrective actions or rework have been properly executed
• Examine and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and compliant with applicable standards
• Confirm the integrity of supporting documentation to ensure alignment with industry and commodity‑specific quality requirements
• Cross‑check shipping documentation for accuracy, confirming part numbers, serial numbers, change notices, and final destination data are correct

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection
• Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards
• Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥0.005") using hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges)
• Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation
• Ability to adapt to new technology and software
• Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products
• Must be willing to undergo a background check and be ITAR compliant
