Position: Field Services Officer II - Lead - Open to Current CSULB Employees Only

Job Summary

This position provides lead direction for a designated group of parking officers. It serves as the primary contact for the university in providing parking information and directions to campus constituents in the field. Services include welcoming individuals to the campus, providing parking assistance, battery jumps, locating lost vehicles, and assistance with pay station or park mobile applications. The role also protects the fiscal integrity of the Parking Program and promotes the safe operation of the parking facilities through the issuance of parking citations to vehicles parked in violation of State Law or campus parking regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Parking Enforcement – Patrol campus parking areas on foot or in a vehicle to issue citations to vehicles violating the California Vehicle Code, Education Code, or applicable CSU LB parking regulations. Utilizes handheld devices and LPR equipment to issue citations, locate habitual offender “bootable” vehicles, and report out‑of‑service parking permit machines and equipment to the Parking Manager.
  • Leads Parking Officers – Assigns parking officers, reviews daily duties to provide service to the community, ensures shifts are reflected in the Events Management System, completes the Daily Shift Report, and assists in transporting parking personnel to operating areas.
  • Community and Visitor Interactions – Serves as the first point of contact, providing a high level of customer service to campus constituents. Provides services such as welcoming individuals to the campus, providing parking assistance, battery jumps, locating lost vehicles, and assistance with pay station or park mobile applications.
  • Traffic Control & Special Event Parking – Provides traffic assistance throughout the campus in heavily congested areas due to construction zones, special projects, road closures, campus activities, accidents, and campus emergencies.

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: $3,703 (Step
    1) – $4,515 (Step 11) per month.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,703 (Step
    1) – $5,395 (Step 20) per month.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

The ideal candidate possesses strong writing skills appropriate to the classification level and demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal abilities to positively engage with all segments of the campus community. The candidate must be physically capable of independently lifting and moving barricades and parking control devices, and can quickly and objectively analyze situations to determine appropriate courses of action. They maintain a safe work environment and consistently communicate in a professional and civil manner.

The candidate has knowledge of operational procedures for technical equipment, including pick‑up trucks, permit dispenser machines, and alternative transportation vehicles such as electric carts. They can communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community, follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines, and contribute to a positive university experience for each student.
