Primary Care Sales Consultant – Long Beach East, CA PURPOSE
The Primary Care Sales Consultant (SC) is accountable for implementing the sales strategies for approved Cardiorenal products. Responsibilities of the role include driving demand, clinical education, and sales by developing, coordinating, and implementing a strategic business plan for Endocrinologists and Primary Care Physicians, primarily in community settings. The position reports to the CVR Area General Manager (AGM) and is an integral part of the Area Customer Squad, collaborating with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, and other internal partners to drive US pharma outcomes.
Tasksand Responsibilities
- Build and develop professional relationships with primary care, pharmacy staff, and other customers.
- Drive appropriate utilization of approved CV and menopause products, working closely with the Customer Squad to generate pull‑through within local payers and community HCPs.
- Leverage expertise and knowledge of diabetes and menopause marketplaces, competitors, industry, and cross‑functional activities to anticipate and manage business opportunities and challenges.
- Provide relevant, thoughtful input to sales leadership and regional account managers regarding strategic and tactical planning for territory, area, and region.
- Develop and implement effective customer‑specific business plans and communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
- Prioritize time and effort to ensure optimal coverage of appropriate physician specialists based on opportunity and potential.
- Understand fully the customers’ product and business needs and work to meet those needs while adhering to all Bayer company ethics and compliance standards.
- Anticipate potential barriers to achieving goals and propose responsible solutions for success.
- Handle customer objections effectively and exceed expectations with the value brought to physicians; occasionally share exemplary skills in a training capacity.
- Leverage emerging technologies to enhance performance, while continuously striving to improve proficiency.
- Understand and comply with pharmaceutical industry guidelines and regulations, applying a high ethical standard in day‑to‑day work.
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
- Proven track record of consistent high performance in a sales role or related experience.
- Proven ability to develop long‑standing relationships with customers.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and promotion of ethical behavior and compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Ability to comply with customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., up‑to‑date vaccinations, trainings).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Advanced degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales.
- In‑depth knowledge of cardiovascular, diabetes, and/or menopause disease states.
- Product launch experience.
- Strong analytical and computer capabilities.
- Virtual sales experience.
- Strong local relationships with HCPs and understanding of local market.
