Fairmont Breakers is a beloved feature of the Long Beach skyline and a historic landmark. Originally opened in the roaring twenties as a lavish hotel on the waterfront, it has been restored to its original grandeur as Long Beach’s only luxury hotel. The property offers 185 boutique rooms and suites, a rooftop pool and terrace, an open‑air lounge with Pacific views, a two‑story spa and fitness center, dining venues, bars, a live jazz club, and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.
Job Description- Respond to and attend guest repair requests.
- Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues independently.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
- Carry equipment, identify, locate, and operate all shut‑off valves for equipment.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Communicate daily activities and issues to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
- Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC.
- Demonstrate advanced engineering and general mechanical skills.
- Possess above‑average proficiency in at least three of the following categories and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management.
- Show solid knowledge of safe hand and power tool use required for repairs.
- Perform complex repairs of physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and national/local codes, with little or no supervision.
- Troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical items, and program TV’s, while using Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
- Use advanced engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and related systems.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Train and mentor other engineers as needed and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities (readings and rounds).
- Assist with special projects, room maintenance (replacements, rewiring, caulking), and general upkeep tasks such as wiping down walls, cleaning, painting, and furniture repair.
- Assume Engineering Manager responsibilities including pager duties, conducting rounds, and checking building equipment.
- Attend designated department and staff meetings.
- Recommend energy‑saving and safety ideas and participate in fire prevention and life safety programs.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial electricity, HVAC, and refrigeration.
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
- Working knowledge of all electrical supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
- Working knowledge of:
- blueprints and wiring schematics
- power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
- Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and interior surface preparation and painting.
- Fluency in job‑related English, both verbal and non‑verbal.
- Provide legible communication and directions.
- Compute mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Ability to:

- Hourly rate: USD $33.00 per hour
