Assistant Foreman​/Tank Builder; PTS-CA

Phillips Tanks and Structure is seeking a full‑time Assistant Foreman located in the Signal Hill, CA area.

• Assist the Foreman in coordinating projects and crew members to provide optimum service.
• Act as the point of contact with customers, vendors, and subcontractors on site.
• Represent PTS in a professional, positive manner to customers and employees.
• Help allocate individual job tasks based on crew skill sets, budgeted hours, and job sequence.
• Facilitate harmonious working relationships with crew members to prevent problems and conflicts.
• Perform regular job‑site observations (safety and quality) to provide direction for all crew members.
• Act as an intermediary between crew members, keeping them informed of PTS policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Ensure employees follow proper safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and productivity.
• Establish supervisor‑level understanding of all assigned projects.
• Understand and follow drawing packages.
• Mentor less experienced crew members, specifically SSI (Short Service Industry) and SSC (Short Service Company).
• Supervise and provide instruction on a variety of tasks, equipment, and tools.
• Proficiently operate all tools on the job site, including power tools, air tools, welding equipment, testing equipment, and safety equipment.
• Proficiently set up and operate weld machines, generators, and air compressors.
• Proficiently operate heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers, and aerial lifts.
• Possess knowledge of crane operations and use, including rigging and signaling.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of all tooling and equipment.
• Assist in receiving, inspecting, and inventorying all material.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly job site.
• Assist the Foreman with trailer inventory requirements.
• Submit accurate, neat, and orderly documentation on time (as required).
• Present the Foreman‑assigned project assignments, completed JSA, and daily equipment inspection documentation; delegate at discretion.
• Diligently complete the S309 Weekly Safety Checklist documentation for the Project Job Book and safety record.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems and suggest improvements to our systems.
• Basic computer skills—Excel, Word, Office, database operation preferred.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to learn.
• Minimum age 18 years.
• Physical capability to lift 50 lbs.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Willingness to authorize background checks.
• No criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to authorize motor‑vehicle driving‑record checks.
• Willingness to submit to pre‑hire, random, and post‑incident drug and alcohol testing.
• Welding ability is a plus.
