Position: I&E Technician, Long Beach, CA

Instrumentation & Electrical Technician

This role is responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of company pipeline assets located in and around the geographic area. The position includes calibration and inspection of measurement equipment, routine pipeline maintenance, leak elimination and reporting, and assistance with construction, maintenance, and mechanical integrity projects on the pipeline. Responsibilities also involve maintaining qualifications and record documentation in accordance with DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Support installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment
  • Perform planned maintenance checks, calibration, and submit timely reports
  • Assist supervisors with technology changes and budget requirements
  • Maintain effective spare parts inventory
  • Assist with pump tear-down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations
  • Collaborate with Pipeline Integrity and Reliability group on new rotating equipment technologies
  • Minimize downtime and unsafe conditions through preventive maintenance
  • Maintain mechanical skills by attending training sessions and on‑job training
  • Maintain technical and administrative records, including prints and project reports
  • Repair minor electrical issues
  • Troubleshoot control circuits for motors
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in emergency response activities
  • Drive teamwork across the area of responsibility
  • Supervise, direct, and train contract crews
  • Participate in Safety Action Plans
  • Complete and maintain required safety/regulatory training (CBT)
  • Pursue cost reduction opportunities
  • Read and understand pump curves
  • Read and understand P& (process and instrumentation diagrams)
Required Qualifications
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least 3 years of electrical and/or instrumentation work experience in oil and gas or a related industry
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC); information to be provided upon request
  • Willingness and ability to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • Climb up to 50 feet using inclined and vertical steps/ladders
    • Lift up to 45 pounds
    • Bend, kneel, knee‑stand, and squat for up to 30 minutes at a time
    • Sit and stand for prolonged periods over 2 hours at a time as required by the job
    • Travel up to 15% of the time
    • Work overtime on an as‑needed basis
    • Respond to emergency calls as needed
    • Work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
    • Work alone a high percentage of the time
    • Work with chemicals and bases
    • Perform firefighting duties
    • Work with hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat
    • Wear personal protective equipment such as fire‑retardant clothing, steel‑toe shoes, and ear and eye protection
    • Maintain facial cleanliness to allow a respirator/face mask to seal properly
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics
  • At least 4 years of relevant industry experience (midstream, pipelines or terminals) or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience working with:
    • Electrical power and components
    • Digital and analog circuitry
    • One‑line drawings and schematics
    • Allen‑Bradley PLCs
    • Rosemount transmitters
    • OMNI flow computer
    • Mechanical and rotating equipment
Compensation Range

Base salary range: $93,150 – $141,680.
