Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This position will be a self-directed and skilled facilities professional with demonstrated experience performing maintenance, repair, and painting work in educational or commercial environments. This position will independently maintain classrooms, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, offices, and related facilities by repairing walls, bathroom fixtures, furniture, ceramic tiles, chalkboards, bulletin boards, and other building components. The candidate will be proficient in replacing floor and ceiling tiles, patching and painting interior spaces, installing replacement fixtures such as clocks, dispensers, and pencil sharpeners, and performing routine lighting maintenance, including re-lamping fixtures and replacing ballasts.
The successful candidate will safely operate a variety of hand tools and equipment and, as needed, utilize vehicles or equipment to transport materials and supplies.
The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and be able to independently inspect assigned buildings to identify maintenance and repair needs. This individual will conduct routine visual inspections of classrooms, restrooms, corridors, and common areas, promptly addressing minor maintenance issues while recognizing and reporting more complex repair needs to the appropriate supervisor. The candidate will also support campus facilities planning efforts by assisting with the collection and compilation of data related to deferred maintenance projects.
In addition to maintenance responsibilities, the ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to supporting the broader university community by assisting with campus ceremonies, special events, emergency response efforts, and other related duties as assigned. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining safe, functional, and well-presented facilities that support a positive learning and working environment.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair, or comparable experience as a trades assistant or laborer with demonstrated proficiency in the required duties.
