Safety Support Associate

Location: Long Beach, CA 90813

Salary: $21.71 to $26.36 per hour

Pay Frequency: 24 Pay Periods Per Year

Employment Type: Part-Time, Non‑Exempt

Shift Schedules:

  • Saturday‑Sunday, 7:00am‑3:30pm
  • Saturday‑Sunday, 3:30pm‑11:00pm

PATH operates services throughout California, connecting clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

About the Job

As part of the Interim Housing team, the Safety Support Associate proactively ensures the site is a safe environment for staff, participants, and visitors. Responsibilities include monitoring facilities, building rapport with participants, and providing support during crisis situations.

Position Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring overall safety using observation, de‑escalation strategies, and participant engagement.
  • Coordinate with the on‑site case management team for support.
  • Coordinate with contracted security agencies as applicable.
  • Conduct regular rounds and communicate discrepancies or concerns.
  • Respond to security or crisis situations using non‑violent crisis intervention and verbal de‑escalation.
  • Assist with completing reports as requested.
  • Attend meetings and provide input related to safety and support operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations and/or security, deescalation, or non‑violent crisis intervention.
Minimum Qualifications
  • All levels of experience and education welcome.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Employment eligibility verification.
  • CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain.
  • Success in Tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug test.
