Senior Flight Software Engineer I/II – Secret Clearance
Position:
Senior Flight Software Engineer I or II (Secret Clearance Required).
Location:
Headquarters, Long Beach, CA.
Join Rocket Lab's Space Systems team to develop flight software for spacecraft, instrumentation, and propulsion systems. Your work will see software running in orbit within weeks.
What you’ll do- Develop application software to run within a real-time operating system (RTOS) or embedded Linux.
- Develop hardware drivers to interface with IMUs, star trackers, reaction wheels, and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
- Create and maintain comprehensive unit tests in a continuous integration framework.
- Collaborate with hardware-in-the-loop test engineers to verify and validate combined software-hardware functionality.
- Work with systems engineers and embedded systems engineers to document, validate, and verify requirements.
- Participate in source-code reviews, design reviews (PDR, CDR), and on-orbit flight operations.
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
- Active Secret clearance.
- 5+ years of applicable embedded software development experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++.
- Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux.
- U.S. citizenship required.

- 8+ years of applicable embedded software development experience.
- Proficiency in C and C++.
- Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- Advanced degree.
- Experience with CAN/CAN-FD, UDP/TCP within embedded systems.
- Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles or harsh-environment systems.

SalaryBase pay range: $120,000 - $190,000 USD (California only).
